Sometimes themed bars run the risk of being tacky or too cliche. And if you’re in or around Times Square, the chances of that are even greater. But on Saturday night, a friend and I stumbled into Tanner Smith’s, an effortless prohibition-styled cocktail lounge off of 55th Street.

I’m a such a sucker for the early 20th century, so I was relieved when I actually wanted to stay. And for the entire night too!

Pros: Reasonably priced, delicious cocktails. Older crowd. Live band featuring singers like this Marilyn Monroe reincarnate.
