On the Trishlist: Maramboi Tented Lodge

During our week on safari, we had the pleasure of staying at some incredible lodging camps, a few of which I’ll be featuring on the Trishlist in the next week.

One of my favorites was the Maramboi Tented Lodge. The camp offers stunning views of the Manyara National Park, Rift Valley, Ngorongoro highlands and on clear days even Oldonyo Lengai – a sacred Masai mountain.

The 40 spacious tents –built on wooded decks with their own private veranda– surround a the dining tent, where everyone unwinds after their game drives for a nice meal and a glass of wine.

My favorite part of the lodge was its swimming pool that overlooks Rift Valley. Wildebeests and zebra wander past you, as you take in surrounding views of the breathtaking African sunset. Once you’re past the initial shock of realizing you are in the middle of a wild, untouched ecosystem, you can start to relax and take it all in.

During the wet season, the area fills with water which attracts huge flocks of flamingos and wading birds (not something you’ll see in October). Unhindered by trees, it’s also a perfect place to observe the Great Migration, if you happen to be there during that time of year
