Growing up, I watched my fair share of Cheers episodes. As a child, I didn’t quite understand how people could sit around all day and drink this smelly stuff called  “beer”, let alone make a long-running show about it.

But I do remember thinking how handsome “Sam Malone” (played by Ted Danson) was.  And that was enough to hook me on the inner workings of a small, neighborhood bar set in 1980s Boston.

Fast forwards 25 years, I’m roaming Beacon Hill and happen to stumble upon the original Cheers bar! Truth be told, I’d forgotten it was in Boston. You can imagine how nostalgic I felt, sitting at the bar by myself making small talk with the bartenders (much like the characters did on the show).

Except now, I love beer.
