The Ngorongoro, or the Gift of Life, is a protected conservation area and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Crater Highlands area of East Africa. The true jewel of the Ngorogoro, however, is its deep, lush, volcanic crater, the largest open caldera in the world.
Truly breathtaking, tens of thousands of tourists and locals, make their way through the region’s conservation area each year. For many African [private] school children, the visiting the Crater is a milestone in their extracurricular education.
In fact, the last time my Dad was overlooking the Ngorogoro Crater, he was a little boy on a school field trip. Just like that one.
